egen re-coding question

Hello all,
I have a very basic question here about re-coding a variable using the egen function. I have looked through the help egen but haven't been successful. Please indulge me, I am sorry to take up space in this forum for such a basic question.

I have a continuous variable (BP) which I am using as a dependent variable in a multivariable linear regression. I need to recode this variable to only run the regression on the standard deviation of that variable so I can have the change per SD rather than per unit change.
