  • _ereturn_display command is unrecognized

    Dear all,

I'm running xtabond2 command to run the Blundell_Bond system GMM estimation on a panel dataset using the 64-bit Stata. Seems that the command could estimate the results but could not display them. Following displaying basic info about the estimation like number of observations, number of instruments, Wald test statistic, etc, an error message appeared as "command _ereturn_display is unrecognized".

I googled and failed to find a lot of useful information. The manual does not provide the info on this error. A post on this forum indicates that ereturn requires the ado files to be e-classtype. I was able to use the ereturn list command to list the estimation-related information, but the ereturn display command got the same error information indicating that it is not recognized.

Could anyone please provide some suggestion on what I could do to display the estimation results? Thanks a lot.

You need to apply Stata IQT:

Thank you. I will try it when I get back to my computer.

I ran Stata IQT which showed some required files failed (either missing or did not match). Does this mean that the ereturn display problem is due to the failed files? What can I do to fix the problem? Thanks.

Wei Wang24, yes, if the files are missing or didn't match the official, this very well may explain why you are getting the error message.
Reinstall Stata. Run IQT again. Once you have a successful installation, retry your original command.
