Equivalent of constraint define in SAS?

Does anyone know if there is an equivalent to constraint define in SAS? I would use Stata but I have a lot of code already written in SAS for what I ened to do. Essentially, I want to constrain a parameter in a model (i.e., a nested model) to have a coefficient of 0.

The answer to your question seems to be no.

You mentioned in your crosspost to SAS-L that you're interested in the Firth's penalized log-likelihood for logistic regression. Although SAS does not seem to have an analogue to Stata's constraint define, you can get profile penalized likelihood confidence limits by using the CLODDS=PL or CLPARM=PL option in conjunction with the FIRTH option to PROC LOGISTIC's MODEL statement.

Nick, when one subscribes to the new Statalist site, one is asked to introduce a username. I did so with edesouza automatically, and find no way of changing it. I haven't looked thoroughly, I must admit.

Can the Registration section of the Forum Software FAQ be changed to clarify what's intended by Statalist for "choose a user name"? If it cannot, then maybe it can be mentioned in Section 2 of the Statalist FAQ. Or maybe a reference could be made to the software FAQ's Registration section "choose a user name" in Section 6 of the Statalist FAQ. (Nick, would you want me to write something to add to the FAQ?) Perhaps the pop-up windows for registration can have a comment or prompt added. It might help avoid inundating the "contact us" staff with requests to change user names.

At the risk of promoting thread drift into an area that properly belongs to another Statalist forum, as an alternative to entering your name in the "user name" during registration, you might be able to take advantage of a "signature". It could be a good way to both have a concise user name for logging in and satisfy the list's expectation (desideratum) of users' posting with their real names.

right by the "User Name" field. Perhaps we need to make it larger, red, or resurrect the deprecated HTML <blink> tag. :-)

Thank you, Alan. When I was composing my earlier post, I originally began with, "I don't remember how or why I didn't get tripped up when registering, but perhaps the Registration section . . .", and then deleted the lead-in before posting. (Once registered and logged-in, you cannot really call-up the registration page again to see what its prompts are.) I'm not sure what else can be done other than to poll the users who now find themselves regretting their choice of user name just what led them to get where they are during the registration process.

I do think we need to make it more obvious somehow. And, it is very easy for admins to change userids after the fact, so we don't mind requests to do that at all. Your idea of taking advantage of signatures is a good one too.
