I have just upgraded to version 18. I have discovered a maddening feature of the text editor that didn't exist before. I'm wondering if this is a feature or a bug.
Here's the issue using a very simple example. Suppose I have the following text typed in the do file:
With the version 18 upgrade, if I select the second line and then use the dialogue box to change "dem" to "rep", it changes _all_ occurrences of "dem" to "rep" in the file, not just the selected text.
I have experimented with selecting the various check boxes in the dialogue box, and the problem persists.
Is this a known issue?
I've checked and seem to have the latest update to Stata v 18. I would imagine that if this is a common issue, it would have been commented on elsewhere, but searching through the forum, I don't see anyone else raising the issue.

twoway scatter x_dem y_dem
twoway scatter x_dem y_dem
