  • controlling xlabel in graph combine

version SE/18.5, Windows. I am beginning by asking if this is a known behavior or bug. If not, I will follow up with a more comprehensive inquiry with code etc. I have specified up to 13 xlabels on graphs but when I use graph combine with the xcommon option, only five of these xlabels appear in the combined graph (the default labeling of five "nicely space" labels). I am unable to specify xlabels for the combined graph (documentation says it takes the labels from the first graph). Is it a known behavior that graph combine just uses five equally spaced labels with the xcommon option? In this case, the values are dates that are being printed in date format.

Perhaps your question is a version of this: https://www.statalist.org/forums/for...ed-xlab-values.

Thank you to both replies. The "by" option suggested by Nick Cox would indeed work in some of the cases. The forum response linked by Andrew Musau is also informative and provides me with things to test.
