  • notifications?

someone sent me a compliment via "notifications"; however, I see no way to respond and no way to tell who sent this; nothing in the fora FAQ seems to help either so ... is there a way to tell who sent this? is there a way to respond?

I am guessing that you got a notification of a new private message, or you got a notification of a reply to a thread you started.

    To check your private messages:

Click on 'Messages' near the top right of any page of the forum (just to the left of your login id).

Once there, you'll see previews of new private messages, etc. Click on "Inbox" in the left navigation pane. Click on the subject line of any private message you wish to read. At that point you can Reply to it or Delete it, among other possible actions.

    To check your notifications:

Click on 'Messages' near the top right of any page of the forum.

Click on 'Notifications' in the left navigation page. Click on a notification of interest to deal with it/go to whatever it is talking about/etc.

If I have misunderstood what you received, perhaps post a screenshot (blurring out any sensitive information) so that we can help out and explain what to do next.

since there is nothing in my inbox, I don't think your Dx is right

but there are now 2 things in my 'Notifications' - one from you as shown below:

        Rich,

If you don't mind, 'Like' my post here so I can see this from my end and figure out if there is a way to clear it.

Do you mind doing it again, on this post? I didn't have my account set up to send me notifications of "Likes", so I didn't get a notification from that post. Now I will if you do it again on this one.

Alan, did you ever receive this? if yes, do you have answers to my original questions

                  Rich,

We have looked into this further. "Likes" on posts are anonymous. There is no way for you to see anything other than how many people clicked the 'Like' button on your post.

I was puzzled at first, because I could see that you had liked my post when I clicked on the # of likes in the lower right corner of my post above. However, my account has admin privileges, which is the only reason I could see that it was you who had liked the post.

So, there is no way for you to thank people who like your post, but it is probably a better system overall for "Likes" to be anonymous, as people then shouldn't feel awkward about giving (or not giving) them out.
