  • sttocc matching for a nested case-control study - preserving identifiers

Q: Is there any way to preserve Case ID or some sort of identifier after running the sttocc command?

I am doing a nested case control study with a database from an orthopaedic organization. After running the sttocc command, the the controls that were matched to the cases no longer have any sort of identifiers. In the original database, I have a Case ID for all of the cases and controls. Is it possible to preserve these Case IDs or any other identifying information so I can track down the cases and controls that were matched in order to perform necessary analyses with the rest of the variables?

    Thank you!

Doubt anyone can provide much help without some data and a demonstration.

My guess is that there's a wildcard deletion in the sttocc ado. Might rename what your losing to avoid that (something strange enough not to get caught and variables beginning with _).

Although convenient, you dont have to use sttocc, you can use, for example, rangejoin or a simple _merge depending on your matching variables.
