I can identify the nature of the problem, but I am not sure how to solve it, or what you actually want to do about it.
The problem arises when the gap of missing returns in the return data set is large enough that it encompasses two events. When we get to the date of the second event that falls in the gap, that is when the data starts to duplicate. It continues to duplicate until we reach yet another event that is not within the gap. So, it seems to me, that the code is telling you something of a truth here. The only reason it's "something" of a truth is that it's not directly telling you what the date of the second event is.
Anyway, before I try to fix this, I need to know how you want it fixed. Do you want to eliminate one of the two from each pair of ID Date duplicates? If so, which event date should it be linked to, the first (which is what is currently given) or the second? Or do you want to actually preserve the duplicate ID Date pairs, and have one of them linked to each of the events that fall in the gap?
