  • Post-hoc power

    Hi team,

I performed multivariate regression to determine the association between predictor variables and outcome variable (depressive symptoms). 2 predictor vars were statistically significantly associated with depressive symptoms, one had an OR of 1.5 and the other 2. The editor has requested for post hoc power analaysis saying the small odds ratio could mean the sample size is small. How should I respond to this? How do i calculate posthoc power in stata?

"Post-hoc power estimates (power calculated for hypothesis tests after performing them) are sometimes requested by reviewers in an attempt to promote more rigorous designs. However, they should never be requested or reported because they have been shown to be logically invalid and practically misleading. "

You could use power to get the power of the test for some sample size and difference.
