sample may not include multiple panels?

The mswitch manual explicitly says to tsset the data before using Markov. I did "tsset id year". The reply was: "Panel variable: id (unbalanced). Time variable: year, 2000 to 2020, but with gaps. Delta: 1 year". But when I try to ran the Markov for 2 states "mswitch dr y male age age2 single child yearsedu , vce(robust)", I received the error message "sample may not include multiple panels". What does this mean? Thanks.

-mswitch- cannot be used with panel data. It only works with a single time series.
