  • TSCS with repeated time values within panel

I want to do a TSCS-analysis with Stata for that I would like to use the tsset command. I have over 20 countries (and the parties in government) from the years 1990-2018. When I use the command tsset countrynumber year the error occurs: repeated time values within panel because sometimes there are more than one party in government leading to multiple observations per year per country sometimes. It is an unbalanced data set. I do not know which command I can use to tell Stata that my variables are pooled but that is "okay", so that I can do an TSCS with multiple observations per years sometimes.

    The data looks like this:
    Country Year Party
    A 1990 Social democratic party
    A 1991 Social democratic party
    A 1992 Conservative party
    A 1993 Conservative party
    B 1990 Social democratic
    B 1990 Conservative
    B 1991 SOcial democratic
    B 1992 Social democratic
    C 1990 Conservative
    C 1991 Christian Democratic
    C 1991 Social Democratic
    C 1991 Ecological party
    C 1991 Communist
    C 1992 SOcial Democratic
I hope someone can help me because I am quite new to Stata.

    Best regards

    Leo:
    welcome to this forum.
You may consider to -tsset- yourv dataset with -idcode- only.
However, this will make time-series operators unvaliable.
    Kind regards,
