Hi, I'm a postgraduate student working on my paper. I'm now wondering about the "heckprobit" commands.
In my paper, DV1 is "whether one registered for public sector job" (binary variable). My sample are the university students, who are in 3 different status: "graduate in the job market" (status 1, N1); "graduate going for further education" (status 2, N2) and "non-graduate" (status 3, N3).Therefore, DV1 is measuring the behavior, which is only available for the graduates in the job market already.
I originally used binary logistic model in my research (sample = N1), but the professor from the thesis defense committee suggested me to consider the selection bias. I thought that he meant the non-graduates may have different probability for being in job market or going for further eduation in the future, so their choices can not be observed right now. Does it means that the selected sample is N1 and the total sample is N1+N3?
Moreover, I will also have DV2 "whether one is enrolled by public sector" (binary variable). Should I use heckprobit command here when I estimating DV2? Enrollment is based on the self-chosen registration. Only if one registered for the work can they be accepted and get the enrollment.
Any help or reply will be highly appreciated!
