stata throwing errors that I don't understand today.

trying to rename error:

. ren id fk_kidms_usr
can_do_fast(): 3499 exit() not found
rename_cmd(): - function returned error
<istmt>: - function returned error

Merge error:
. merge 1:1 serial using data/temp/abd
map_mtype(): 3499 errprintf() not found
<istmt>: - function returned error

What could be the problem?
