  • Assistance with generating weights

    Hello,

I am fairly new with analyzing survey data, and I'd greatly appreciate any help I can get with some survey results I have. I want to calculate the weights by age group and was wondering is that something I can do with Stata? In the raw data I have the 65+ age group is underrepresented and I'd like to correct that using weights-In theory I should divide the known 65+ percentage from the Census data and the % of 65+ I have in the survey and that would be the weight, but not sure how can I achieve that using the software. Ideally I would like to see how some questions of the survey are affected after the correction. For example I have a question if people think grocery prices are high, so right now in the raw data the 'very high' option is represented with 65% would like to see if that percentage changes after the corrections.

Thank you in advance for the help.

I don't fully understand (please read and follow the advice in the FAQ), but I think that the user-written -ipfraking- command will help; use -search- to find and download; another user-written command (survwgt) might also be helpful
