  • Estout Exporting Negative P-Values?

    Hi,
    I'm using estout to export some regression results, and I noticed that all of the p-values are negative in the excel tables - Has this been happening for anyone else/does anyone know how to fix it?

    The odd thing is that it seems to only be happening for p-values and not coefficients or 95% confidence intervals (at least I hope its not happening for coefficients...it's sort of hard to tell if something is truly negative in the table or if estout is just putting a negative there itself - Not sure if anyone is able to confirm it's only happening for p-values as well?)

    Estout cannot export XLS files. You are exporting a text file with an extension of xls, which Excel is smart enough to interpret in a mostly reasonable way. Without actually checking your example, I assume what's happening is that Excel is interpreting numbers in parentheses as negative numbers. You can change the column format from numeric to text to temporarily prevent this. But you should also probably be exporting as CSV or SCSV instead of as XLS.
