Cannot find explanation for Do-file Editor "Advanced" preferences

I just installed Stata v18.0 SE and in looking through the Do-file Editor's preferences menu (Edit --> Preferences --> "Advanced" tab), I noticed a check-box option under the "Open and save" menu that says "First window menu item selects recent editor". What does this do? I can't find it listed anywhere in the Do-file Editor documentation and multiple Google searches have not helped either.

UPDATE: According to Stata Technical Support, this option controls what the Ctrl+9 shortcut does. You can toggle it to open a new Do-file Editor or bring the most recent Editor to the top. This feature is deliberately undocumented and subject to change.
