    I am going to plot an histogram graph for the variable rsp (daily returns of the S&P500 index). So I type:

    Suppose that instead of plotting a normal distribution over the histrogram plot I want to plot a t-distribution graph. I cannot find a way to do so. Do you have any suggestion to share?

    I guess you'd need to call up twoway function to draw a density curve. You would presumably want to match a distribution with a specified number of degrees of freedom to the mean and SD of the variable. A detail is that the t distribution doesn't have unit SD and indeed for low df has no defined SD.

      Nick Cox indeed. Given the characteristics of the distribution of returns, the normal distribution is not a good match. Instead i would like to compare the distribution of the returns with a t-distribution with a number of degrees of freedom of 4, using the mean and the sd of the variable. Thanks for your suggestion. I will check twoway function.
