Country codes are turning red

Hello,

I am trying to import data from excel to stata, but when I look at the data editor, the country codes turn red.

What can I do about this?

Hi Lulan,
So you know. Stata color codes your data. Numeric is black, labeled data is blue, and strings are red.
There is nothing wrong. Country is simply stored as string. Check tostring, destring and encode to create numeric by labeled versions of the data.

To add some brown to these country codes, you'll either need to encode them into value labels or just make a unique number that IDs your areas of intrigue.
