  • What kind of STATA feature or analysis would help me get to a table like the one attached

    Hi All!

I'm currently doing my master's thesis and I one of the empirical analyses is to replicate the experiment shown in the picture attached to this post. I have not had any statistics classes in my master's so I'm a bit in the dark with STATA. I have searched google, youtube, and every other forum out there and have not found any similar posts. I am able to generate descriptive statistics for the whole set of data but I cannot do it by filtering based on a column's value. If anyone could point me towards any material that covers how to group data based on a column's value and how to generate combined tables that would be fantastic.

So to be more clear I have a set of columns that have the stock return of several companies for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months & 1 year. And I have a column that specifies whether these firms went public via a SPAC or IPO. And I want to compare the descriptive statistics of one group against the other for the different periods of time, so in my case compared to the figure attached, the Benchmark column would be the IPO data. Another doubt I have is how would I go about calculating the difference within STATA?

Thanks in advance and let me know if this was not clear or the correct way to post.

    Mark:
the new -table- suite looks promising in this respect.
See https://blog.stata.com/tag/customizable-tables/ and related entries in Stata .pdf manual.
    Kind regards,

asdocx is pretty versatile and can create customized tables like this one, and works great with almost all Stata commands.

Check out my asdoc program, which sends outputs to MS Word.
For more flexibility, consider using asdocx which can send Stata outputs to MS Word, Excel, LaTeX, or HTML.
