  • Regarding dummy variables

So for my regression, i am taking 2 dummy variables
Dummy1=1 if host and 0 if neighbour
Dummy2=1 if impact is 3 years after the tournament year and 0 if 3 years prior to the tournament year

So i am getting the results but i am not understanding how i should compare the impact of host and neighbouring separately, and also compare the impact before and after the tournament year, coz i am getting a single value in the regression table for each dummy.

If i create it like this:
Dummy1=1 if host or 0 otherwise
Dummy2=1 if neighbouring or 0 otherwise
Dummy3=1 if before the tournament year or 0 otherwise
Dummy4=1 if after the tournament year or 0 otherwise
This is quite debatable coz there is no such alternative for the 0 values.
But at the end, I will get 2 separate values for host and neighbouring and 2 separate for before and after the World Cup year and I can present it easily in my results section.

How should I proceed? Is the method above correct?

    John:
    welcome to this forum.
Could you please what you coded and what Stata gave you back (as per FAQ)? Thanks.
    Kind regards,

I don't have the code right now with me, but I just want to ask whether the 4 dummies that I mentioned above can be created like that?
there are only 2 options for country, which is host and neighbouring. So my question is can I create 2 different dummies so that I have 2 different values for host and neighbouring?

        John:
you can probably create two two-level categorical variables only (0/1 and 0/1).
        Kind regards,
