  • Calculating Gini in direct method

There are two methods for calculating Gini- 1) Direct Method= if I want to calculate the education Gini based on years of educational attainment variable then The direct method states that the education Gini is defined as “the ratio to the mean (average years of schooling) of half of the average overall pairs of the absolute deviations between all possible pairs of people. while the indirect method indicates the Lorenz curve which is able to calculate. How can i calculate the direct method of Gini, which command should i use???

The two methods for calculating the Gini coefficient yield the same result, and in fact there are other algebraic simplifications. See

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gini_c...ve_expressions

    for a discussion.

With that said, there are several community-contributed programs for calculating the Gini coefficient that are revealed in the output of the command
    Code:
    search gini
I have used ineqdeco which calculates the Gini coefficient as well as several other measures of inequality.
