  • table with 1 variable, sorting by 2

    Dear Statalist,

I have acquired cross border data with mergers and acquisitions from the last 20 years.

I want to make tables for every country, showing how many acquisitions they made within each industry group (USSIC code) every year, for a range of years.

So far I have tried with
    PHP Code:
    by yeartabulate twodigit_USSICcode
which obviously doesn’t have the countries included and is too basic of a table to be useful for what I am doing.

    How many distinct values of

    USSIC code

    country

    year

and so how many rows, columns, layers are you expecting?

      Hello Nick,
I think a table for each country (10x), I've limited the USSIC codes to 2 digits, I expect for each year 5-10 different distinct values of USSIC codes. Over a 10 year period.

I have managed to get some tables I can work with in Stata now, however, when trying to use putexcel command Stata loads endlessly and the excel workbook file gets "corrupted".
