I am studying news media outlets that have promised to diversify their base of columnists. If there are 1000 authors who have each written one piece, I am looking at perfect equality. If there are 1000 authors, 10 of whom have written 50 articles each, while the remaining 990 authors have written the other 500 pieces (i.e., ~.5 pieces each), then the distribution is much more skewed. Would it make sense to compute a Gini coefficient here to compare across media sources? If so, any suggestions on the best stata command to start with? Thanks!
