  • Divide data in 2 different groups

Hello everyone, I'm trying to automate something with Stata. I have 174 observations right now, and I already separated them into 2 groups (each with 87 obs). In each 87 obs, I want to create 9 groups of 5 (45 obs) and 21 groups of 2 (42 obs). After doing so, how can I group the 45 obs to 5 in each? I also want to calculate the average of each group of that 5 also!

Thank you so much for your help!

    Jane:
    welcome to this forum.
No example given, no good replies to be expected (please see the FAQ on how to post effectvely. Thanks).
That said, I would create (a limited) set of categorical variables (see -help fvvarlist-) and probably go -regress-.
    Kind regards,
    Carlo

Hello Jane. How did you divide the observations into two groups? E.g., did you do it randomly, or by some other means? And how do you want to do the rest of the splitting into groups you have described? Thanks for clarifying.
