SEM: binary exogenous variables

Hello all! TIA for your help. I know you can't use SEM and have to use GSEM if you have binary endogenous variables. What if I have binary exogenous variables? Is it ok to use SEM then? For context, I am hoping to load 9 binary exogenous variables on to a latent construct.

SEM is regression. Would you use a binary predictor in regression? For instance, sex?

That said, nine binary predictors sounds to me like a potential problem. Are you sure they are all separate rather than indicators of a set of fewer factors?
