  • Managing unbalanced panel data

    Hello everyone.
    In my dataset there are missing data for variable observations for some firms in my panel. In that case can I remove those years in which data is missing and keep the rest of the years for that firm which ahs data. It will turn to an unbalanced panel then. Which methods can I use to estimate from an unbalanced panel.

    Anurandha:
    1) you do not have to remove anything, as Stata will do it for you (casewise/listwise deletion, you know);
    2) there's no specifc advice on estimating coefficients of an unbalanced panel dataset. Just let Stata do its usual great job.
    Kind regards,
    Carlo

        Anurandha:
        no, as Stata omits by default all the observations with missing values in any variable.
        Kind regards,
        Carlo
