finding a particular dataset

Hello there ,
could anyone please help me to know how can i locate a particular dataset from a group of datasets? each dataset's name is unknown and if i need to open one dateset , instead of opening every dataset, how can I locate what i am looking for

You can get descriptives of a dataset wihtout opeing it. desc using filename, where filename is the name of the file you want to look into without opening it.
