  • Issue with simulate running forever

    Dear Statalisters,
    I use simulate in order to compute bootstrapped standard errors. It works perfectly except for when I include one extra control variable. In this case the whole code works great and my estimates get calculated without any problem but once the simulate program starts it just runs forever without giving any error message or computing anything. Has this happened to any of you and what may be the cause?
    Thanks in advance,
    Clémence

    Clemence:
    what if you reduce the number of -bootstrap- replications?
    Could you please share some more details about the seemingly nasty variable? Thanks.
    Kind regards,
    Carlo

      Thanks a lot Carlo. So I am including a third degree polynomial of standardized income, and the last variable, ^3 is the one that stops my program from running. This happens even when I specify only 2 replications. The program just seems to run endlessly. In the mean time I got my results out using only income and income^2. However, I also want to perform the same analysis for men and women separately, and again it does not compute anything, even without the problematic variable.

        Clemence:
        1) I would stop at c.income##c,income;
        2) can't you add -i.gender- among predictors and run a single-shot regression (or whatever)?
        Kind regards,
        Carlo
