  • Does Standardization have sense in this case?

Hi everybody I want to construct a proxy variable for the probability that a person from country x arrived in Italy in the year y is a refugees or not. I obtained this proxy using 2 different type of data: in the first case I divided the number of residence permits for humanitarian reason over the total number of residence permits, the second is the ration between the number of application in the year y for people coming from country x divided the total number of application in that year. It was wondering if its make sense to standardize these two variable or not. Could you help me please?

To me it seems so obvious that you should not standardize these variables, that I can't help thinking that I'm missing something or misinterpreting your question. So let me question you back: why do you think you should? (That's a serious question: I'm not trying to bully you into not standardizing, I'm seriously concerned that I have misunderstood the situation.)

Honestly I was panicking on how I should've interpreted the results of the coefficient for those variables and I did it without thinking about it. Thankyou for your answer, I'm sorry.
