  • Commenting does not work; "/ is not a valid command name" error

    Hi! For some reason commenting in Stata is not working for me. If I type "// test" (in newly-opened Stata), I get the following error message:

    / is not a valid command name
    r(199);

    I get the same error when using "/* */". The comments are parsed correctly (shown in green) in the command window, but don't run correctly. Does anyone know what might be going on? Thank you!

    I'd suggest typing comments in a do-file editor rather than in the command window.

      Thank you for the reply! So I suppose the // indicator just doesn't work in command line?
