First, to TPTB at Stata, thanks for adding such a cool feature in Stata 17. It's a very clever solution and another useful enhancement to the ever-improving do-file editor.
I have a few suggestions, which I am posting in case others have found workarounds or have additional ideas. My apologies in advance if I have overlooked existing discussion or documentation, I didn't find these when searching "bookmarks" or "navigation" in the forum search, nor in the "New in Stata" website.
1. an additional option for the old, temporary, bookmarks, i.e. are *not* encoded in the do-file as in previous versions. Overall, I vastly prefer the new way but occasionally it is nice to be able to have some temporary bookmarks when I am jumping around in my code.
2. a hierarchy of bookmarks, e.g., **# as the equivalent of I, **## as I.A, **### as I.A.i, etc., and then have the navigation pane able to indent or otherwise distinguish accordingly. (of course one can do a simple version of this already by using the bookmarks labels)
3. the ability to dock the navigation pane on the side of the do-file editor window, and/or a keyboard shortcut to jump to the navigation pane
There also appears to be an issue with the positioning of navigation control, at least when using an external monitor, see

Best,
BL
