Neonatal Mortality, Infant Mortality, and child mortality from DHS data

Hi, I need to calculate the infant mortality and child mortality from the DHS data.

Do I need to work on the Birth record files to calculate neonatal Mortality, Infant Mortality, and child mortality.

If yes what exact variables and formula I need to use to compute each of these, please.

I have to create the dummy variables

• Neonatal mortality – within the 1st month of life
• Infant mortality – dying before the 1st birthday
• Child mortality – dying between the 1st and 5th birthdays

taking value one if the Child dies within the specific time period.
