egen command not working

My egen and count command is not working although I tried it with ssc install egen
but it's still not working and shows

egen not found at SSC, type search egen
(To find all packages at SSC that start with e, type ssc describe e)

Help please?

-egen- is a built-in Stata command; hence, no need to install it.
Try -help egen- to double-check what above.

SInce I am new to stata it's still kind of a new world to me.
However, I checked and checked what's the issue because now it says unknown egen function group()

and this error isn't letting my graphs/bar charts to be generated.

I am facing the exact same problem as Liza did, with the egen function. The error remains: "unknown function egen".

Hi Lucas, the suggestions remain the same as this thread. Do you see the output of -help egen- ? Can you show the precise code you have tried and the precise error Stata returns? Post these back using the CODE delimiters.

Two viable diagnoses are that:
1) your syntax contains errors
2) you have an unauthorised copy of Stata
