  • How do you write a file path to use a file on Google Drive?

I have a .dta file stored in a folder on Google Drive. The URL is https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/(Folder Name).

I would like to use this file in Stata without having to download it to my desktop. Is it possible to do this? How would I find out the file path?

If you look at the examples in the output of help use you will see that URLs can be provided wherever a file path is expected. I can't put my hands on the documentation for this at the moment, probably somewhere in the Stata User's Guide PDF accessible from Stata's Help menu.

I can download data files from the SSC archive by typing use http://fmwww.bc.edu/repec/bocode/t/traindata.dta, clear and the like. So my guess is that you can enter your file path and name in this format.
