  • Marginal structural models and Multivariate regression

If we get similar estimates of multivariate regression compared with marginal structural models (MSM) estimates, what are the added values of using MSMs? In what conditions, do these two models give similar estimates?

You didn't get a quick response. You'll increase your chances of a helpful answer by following the FAQ on asking questions – provide Stata code in code delimiters, readable Stata output, and sample data using dataex. Being able to replicate your problem is often helpful in helping you.

Telling us exactly what you are considering running would also be helpful. People often use the same term but mean different things by it. For example, I'm not sure precisely what you intend by marginal structural model. If you are comparing MVreg versus an SEM estimator, it should be possible to get almost identical results from both if you specify them correctly. A great many other models can be specified almost identically in SEM as well. They will give the same results if you specify them exactly the same. However, there is no general answer to this since both have a variety of options.
