how to generate the median variable by industry every 3 years?

Hello everyone:

I am trying to get the median of the sales growth rate for all the companies within the same industry every 3 years.

I know that I could use egen command to get the median every one year, but however is there a way for me to get the median sales growth rate every three years?

Do you want medians of overlapping periods or disjoint periods? if you had say 7, 13, and 42 companies in 3 years in the same industry would you just want the median of those 62 rates, or what?
