  • A guide on understanding, calculating and using weights in STATA

    Hello everyone.

Today I have one very humble question: can someone suggest me a guide to understand weights and calculate and use them in STATA?

Thanks in advance, sorry if such question falls in the off-topic field.

The definitive reference on this topic is in the PDF manuals that come installed with your Stata. Launch Stata and type
    Code:
    help weights
in the Command window. The Viewer window opens. Near the top there is a blue link to the PDF documentation. Click on that. This will take you to the part of the User's Guide that explains the syntax of weights. Read that section. For a more detailed discussion, near the end of that section there is another blue link that will take you to the Weighted Estimation section of the User's Guide, where you can learn more.

if the manual does not give you sufficient info, you might want to look at the following: Survey Weights: A Step-by-Step Guide to Calculation
Richard Valliant and Jill A. Dever; info on this can be found at the Stata web site: https://www.stata.com/bookstore/stata-press-books/
