Converting Monthly data to quaterly data

Dear all,
I want to convert my data from monthly to quarterly. I am not sure how to format the data. I know how to create a Quarterly time index but how do I take out the data.

That said, you will (presumably) need to collapse somehow too, e.g. take means of up to 3 monthly values in each quarter.
