how to calculate the median

My first advice is: please do read the excerpts of the Stata Manual related to the basic commands. They are free. There is a manual only to help the reader to Get Used to Stata’s commands.

Rest assured the reward will be exponential.

One of the introductory commands in Stata is - summarize -, and just adding the option - detail - will provide lots of information concerning the variable, including the median. For example: summarize myvar, detail.

Yes. The median is the 50th percentile.
