  • can't open the itsa command example data set

    Hi, everyone,

I was trying to explore the itsa command by typing in help itsa. In the help file under examples, I clicked "use cigsales_single, clear" but couldn't call in the data set. I also tried sysuse plus the file name, but still couldn't bring in the data.

Could anyone please let me know how to solve this?

    Thank you so much!

-itsa- is a community-contributed program, available from Stata Journal software. The file you are referring to is part of the package that comes with the program. It is not one of the built-in Stata example data sets, nor is it on StataCorp's website, so -sysuse- and -webuse- will not get it. You have to have it on your own computer. When you install -itsa-, you will see that there are two links, one of which says "click here to install" and the other says "click here to get." The former just gets you the program and the help file. To get the data sets and demonstration do-files that are on offer ("Ancillary Files") you have to click on the "click here to get" link. I suspect that when your -itsa- was installed, the Ancillary Files were not installed with it.

Point your browser to net describe st0389_5, from(http://www.stata-journal.com/software/sj17-4). Then use the "click here to get" link and the files will be downloaded to your computer. Just make a note of what directory they end up in, and make sure that that directory is accessible to you when you try to -use- it.
