  • Statistical difference in gender

    Hello all,

I am working on something and would like to know how to check for statistical difference between men and women for each of my variable.

    Thanks

Welcome to the Stata Forum/ Statalist,

Please read the FAQ. There you'll find advice about sharing data/command/output. Also, about writing a very informative post.

I fear your post is not clear enough, at least to me. You wish to estimate whether there is a statistical difference between one variable (let's call it "sex") "for each of my variables". However, it is necessary to know whether "each" of the variables are, say, numerical, categorical, etc. Without minimal information, any reply risks being too much elusive. This reminds me of a sentence from Seneca: to those who ignore which port to reach, no wind is favourable (ignoranti quem portum petat nullus suus ventus est).

That being said, quite generally, if the remaing variables are categorical, you shall think about a chi-square test. If they are continuous, you may consider a t test (parametric) or Mann-Whitney's (nonparametric). Hopefully that helps.

      Martial:
      I do share Marcos'advice.
If the "something" you mentioned is a regression model, you may want to consider interacting -gender- with other predictors (see -help fvvarlst-).
      Kind regards,
