• Using Merged Dataset, One Deletion of Missings in One Variable Impacts the Number of Observations in Another Variable Without Doing Anything

    Hi, all:

In my merged dataset, I keep noticing that when I remove the missing observations from one variable that impacts the other variable (making them the same) without doing anything to the other variable. Can someone please tell me what the problem could be?

Speaking only for myself, I am having trouble imagining the situation you are describing.

We can better help you if we know what commands you have tried and what Stata did you that you are trying to understand. Please review the Statalist FAQ linked to from the top of the page, as well as from the Advice on Posting link on the page you used to create your post. See especially sections 9-12 on how to best pose your question. It's particularly helpful to copy commands and output from your Stata Results window and paste them into your Statalist post using code delimiters
and
, and to use the dataex command to provide sample data, as described in section 12 of the FAQ.
