Index variable

Dear all, I want to create an index variable called WASH Index from 10 independent variables such as x1,x2,x3,.........x10 from DHS Data set. But I have difficulties Skip interval.
Thus How can I deal with it? How can I construct the index variable (WASH Index)?
I am using Stata/SE 14.
I am a new Stata user, So I need your Assistance and Guidance !!

I guess you should lay out in a bit more detail, what exactly you want to achieve.
What do you mean by Index variable/How is it constructed?
What exactly is the problem with the interval?
