Stata Limits Observations

Hi,

I am using a data set that was originally in sav format and that was used in SPSS. I saved this data set on to a stata file. When I open the new stata file, only the first 1000 observations appear (the data set originally contained close to 40,000 observations).

Does anyone know what the issue is? How can I include all of the observations?

The observations probably got lost when you exported the data. So that suggests that the problem is with SPSS rather than with Stata. I haven't opened SPSS for more than 15 years now, so I cannot help you with that.

Sometimes trial or less expensive versions of software limit observations. If you can't make it work easily, you might try exporting to a different file format.
