      Do you mean

      geometric mean

      or

      geometric standard deviation?

Or if "geometric standard mean" is not either, please give us a reference and/or a definition.

Sorry, I actually meant Geometric mean and Geometric standard deviation. I need to calculate GM and GSD for a specific chemical for a specific population.

why not just use the -ameans- command? it does not give SD but does give CI so, if you really need the SD, you could work back to it

added: note that the formula is given in the "methods and formulas" section of the pdf documentation; just type
          Code:
          help ameans
and click on the blue link at the top of the help file

Thanks for your reply. I have used the ameans command, and got the GM and CIs. I used the equation for 95% CI. But I am wondering if it is okay to use this equation for GSD, or do I need to apply any special technique in this case? Please help me to get out of the confusion. Thanks.

Where does your formula come from? Why not exponentiate the standard deviation of the logs?
