Stata/MP 14.0 quit unexpectedly.

Dear all,

I'm a stata 14/MP user on macOS Sierra version 10.12.5. When I want to open Stata, it crashes and shows the error: "Stata/MP 14.0 quit unexpectedly".
I tried re-installing, updating my system and unfortunately, none of them worked.
I don't know if this information is relevant, but since a couple of days I have increased the maxvar to 10000 and have been using a data set of about 4,000,000 observations. Stata has been working perfectly fine and the issue just appeared when I closed it and tried to reopen the file. Does anyone know what causes this issue and how to solve it? Do you open Stata by launching Stata directly, or is it indirectly by double-clicking on the file that is causing you problems? In other words, I'm asking if the problem happens because you are opening the troublesome dataset, or if it happens without trying to open the dataset.

I am assuming you have at some point restarted your Mac, perhaps as part of updating your system.

I think contacting Stata Technical Support directly might be your best option.

Perhaps if you were to write to Stata technical support and include a crash log, they would be able to determine what went wrong.

Have you updated Stata 14? The current version of Stata 14 is 14.2 and the error "Stata/MP 14.0 quit unexpectedly" makes me believe you haven't updated. Since you're having trouble launching Stata, you can manually download it from http://www.stata.com/support/updates/stata14.html.
