  • Importing a dataset with Greek characters

I'm trying to work with a Greek labour force survey where the data are labelled in Greek characters (converted from .sav into .dta). Unfortunately, Data Editor displays them as special characters. Is there any way to have Stata display them seamlessly? Thanks in advance.

If you post a small section of the dta file with some troubling Greek characters, also with the information of which version of Stata you are using (the output of -about-), I might be able to help you.

Hi Hua, thank you for replying.

I'm using Stata/IC 13.0 for Mac (64-bit Intel) and this is the output I get on the Data Editor:

You need Stata 14 or Stata 15, which can deal with Unicode characters. Stata 13 on Mac can only handle ASCII and Latin 1 encoded characters, which does not support Greek letters.
