Universally unique identifier (UUID) or globally unique identifier (GUID) with Stata or Mata

does anyone know a good way to create UUIDs/GUIDs in Stata?
UUIDs are decribed here:

Why do you need it?

I want to create sql statements for a database manipulation task. For some parts, I have to create UUIDs for the database entrys. I am working on a server with limited additional tools and no access to the web. My current solution is to use powershell, although I am still working on a solution that works.
