I think that countmatch (SSC) is probably a roundabout way of merging without merge. If it is useful, I am happy about that.
We should probably document some of my foibles such as
0, Wanting Stata to be spelled correctly.
1. Not being good at merges (but getting better).
2. Disliking rejection of outliers on the grounds that they are awkward.
3. Disliking Winsorizing as routine (despite being the author of winsor).
4. Thinking testing for normality over-sold and s over-practised.
5. Thinking Box-Cox oversold (good name, though).
There must be more.
