  • Problems with installing package "pvar"

    Dear all,

I had a very similar issue to the one posted by Maya Lani. I'm trying to install the package "pvar", but Stata says:
"ssc install: "pvar" not found at SSC, type -findit pvar-
(To find all packages at SSC that start with p, type -ssc describe p-)
    r(601);"

When I use the findit command, no pvar package is found. Pvar is a command used for vector autoregressive model and it was implemented by Inessa Love (https://sites.google.com/a/hawaii.ed...love/home/pvar for more information). Hence I downloaded the zip file and I put the .ado and .sthlp file in the ado folder as described in the FAQ of that website, but the command does not work.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

ssc install only works with packages uploaded to the ssc repository on repec. For commands you get from other sources, you don't need to use ssc install. Simply copy the ado and help file to ./ado/ and restart Stata.

If the command still doesn't work, something else has gone wrong.

in what way does the command "not work"; please read the FAQ for the uselessness of that particular notation and the necessity of giving us more information (and what and how to give that additional information); at the very least we need to know what you typed into Stata and how Stata responded (and please put those in a CODE block - read the FAQ for how to do that)

I fixed it and now it seems to work, thanks for your replies and sorry for the inappropriateness of that notation.

        Thanks again.
